Djai Skjellerup

I was lucky enough to win a year's subscription to the http://www.subscribe-o-matic.com messaging system and so I have decided to no longer promote membership of my SL group "Djai Skjellerup Fan Group". The makers of S-O-M had a competition to come up with a new advertising tagline for their product and the title of this post was one of the suggestions I sent over. The system look very good so far so I am encouraging current members to swap over to the new system and I will only send invites to new fans for the new method. I will still message both subscribe-o-matic and my SL group while there are members so no one will lose out although you might want to just be in one or the other so you dont get duplicate messages.

The great thing about subscribe-o-matic is that is does not require a group slot in the profile of the member so it should be much easier to retain people in my group once they have signed up as they dont need to juggle around the hopeless 25 group limit that is in effect in SL. I'll keep the spam to a minimum and hopefully everyone will be happy!

I had had a daliance with a inworld group invitation system recently but it really did not operate very well so I will allow my subscription to this to lapse. Suffice to say after multiple problems the system was not operating very magically in my eyes.

Thats enough typing for tonight as I sip this glass of Rioja. News on why I have had a little break and my album progress coming shortly!

I am sad to Say that the Back 2 Reality concert which was to have seen my RL debut has been postponed due to very poor ticket sales. Even though people may turn up on the night without a guarantee of an audience the promoter does not feel it is realistic to go ahead.

My apologies but this is completely out of my control although I understand the situation for the organisers entirely.  It's a pretty sensible decision I guess but it is a shame for any folks who have made arrangements both audience and musicians. It is hoped that it will be rescheduled at a different venue so I will keep you informed as soon as I know something.

I had travelled to Fable Sinatra's house several times already (we line about 180 miles apart) for rehearsals as we planned to do alot of songs together. She is coming to my house tomorrow too. She won't know the news as she is out camping tonight. I am not looking forward telling her when I see her.

But....enough despondency it's time to move on! Let's look forward to the next fun happening all together..who knows what the future will bring?! :)

Save Badger! 06/13/2008

Badgers...the are cute...the are funny...they have a funny name....but there is a serious story behind the life of a badger in the UK. The UK government is planning a badger cull later this year in order to control the spread of TB to cattle...please read on...

Tomorrow (Saturday 14th) is Badger Awareness Day in the UK and I am pleased to say I submitted a song for the cause to my new pal Kevin (the man behind the Bath International Virtual Music Festival a few of us played for recently) and he has chosen it as the official song for the campaign. You can hear the song "I Am The Badger" and see the video Kevin produced as the campaign website
http://www.savebadger.co.uk

There are no money contributions being sought for this campaign only that you become badger aware and always keep badgers in your thoughts..especially tomorrow. Kevin will be joining a protest in London tomorrow that will ask the government to cancel any plans for a badger cull and instead investigate the growing evidence that maintaining the health of badgers as well as cattle is a far better way of controlling the spread of TB.

I Am The Badger 06/06/2008

After a week of trying I finally managed to write a song for the save the badger campaign at http://www.savebadger.co.uk/

That's not an easy subject to write about but on the last day before the deadline after have discarded title's such as "Rock The Badger" and bizarre vocal scat on the word badger I came up with something I thought appropriate, recorded it live in 1 take and now if you want to listen you will find a link at the Bath International Virtual Music Festival here http://www.bivmf.co.uk/18.html but also dont forget to read about the cause at http://www.savebadger.co.uk/

I only noticed I had slipped into that on the previous heading now I returned to my blog....what a bizarre thing to do in a blog lol

I am giving my own a website an exclusive here as I am happy to say I have decided to take part in the gig being organised in Oxford on 3rd August. Details will be forthcoming....

I was contacted by one of pals, Horizon Darkstone, a couple of weeks ago who said I ought to check out http://www.bath-international-virtual-music-festival.co.uk/

She was dead right and I soon got into conversation with the organiser, Kevin Paginton, and for the last week and the next my Second Life shows are being SimulCast also to the BIVMF.

Kevin only lives down the road from me and we seem to have in common that we both love music and we both have four kids!

Lyrics 05/30/2008

I have posted up alot more of my lyrics on the site and this seems to have been interesting to some folks as I have seen alot more of them being sung at gigs which I always love to see!

Mocha Fey 05/16/2008

These extended blogless periods really will not do!

I have been playing and playing in SL and having a throughly great time doing it. Get It Toegether has spread viral like throughout SL and the poster can be spotted all over the place.

Tomorrow Toby and I are going to be stream chaining which will allow us to play together. I stream to Toby who hears me and then plays along. He then streams that in Second Life and the audience can hear us both. The only one that does not hear us both is me!

The event is the opening of a new musician hang out created by our good pal Bree Birke. It is a coffee shop style venue one end of Nitida Ridge called Mocha Fey.

Hopefully our opening will be extended as a series of concerts are held by the musicians close to Bree's heart spread over the next couple of weeks. Mocha Fey will hopefully become a musician's venue in that it is being able to be made available to all musicians for them to do their own shows. The stream can be set using a handy utility (created by Toby..his scripting skills are becoming first class) and as long as you have booked it in the calendar then away you go!

See you there..Mocha Fey, Nitida Ridge, Saturday 17th 2pm slt!
