I was out with my family yesterday enjoying a very late in the year burst of British sunshine by going to a local pub and sitting outside for a meal while the kids played on the swings. I can assure you that I am not a big drinker and what happened next cannot be attributed to alcohol although a copious application of firewater may have dulled the pain somewhat. While chasing around running after the kids I fell over and my shoulder ploughed into the hard compacted turf. There was an audible crunching tearing sound and I felt numb accompanied with a feeling like I was going to be sick. The rest of the day was spent in pain including that nights gig at Bay Vista. Ever the trooper I carried on the show with minimal (ok maybe the audience will attest that it was not so minimal) whinging about the pain I was in.

This morning I went to see a doctor who appeared to be no more than 14 years old and had it confirmed that it was only muscle damage. I say "only" but I still cannot lift my arm above shoulder height and I have trouble putting my pants on. Involuntary grunting and yelping sounds and talking to myself have always been a part of my daily existence (is it possible to have a little bit of Tourette's?). Now I have a reason for the noises and as for the talking to myself it consists of gasps followed by an expletive usually after doing something simple like reaching for my toothbrush.
