Rollmops 12/17/2007

I did a show at Wonderful Denmark over the weekend and a startling revelation came to me.

I once lived in Copenhagen for about 3 months and have visited there a couple of times since as I feel connected with the place. One thing that had always surprised me was the amount of pickled fish the Danish had for breakfast. I like to try the local food wherever I travel but to have this was always a challenge. I did my best and had them even though it was a little strong for me first thing in the morning.

Imagine my surprise when the good folks at Wonderful Denmark told me the Danish do not eat pickled fish for breakfast! It seems that one of two things had happened. One possibility is that my hosts during my stay in Denmark were playing a little joke on their English visitor in feeding me to see just what I would eat. Alternatively, marvelling at my capacity to eat the most pungent offerings each morning they just shook their heads, smiled and brought more of the same for me the next day as they thought I had an unusual liking for rollmops in the morning!

Downtime 12/11/2007

It looks like the extended Linden Labs downtime for maintenance has done for my show tonight as I ought to be taking thr stage as I write this! Funny that my last two shows got cancelled! Tonight was supposed to be an Italian sim called Alice Beach. Lets hope I can play there again soon.

I must be mad but the lack of shows at the moment is going to be turned around in a big way on the 16th as I do 3 shows in a day for the first time. Doing 2 shows is fiine but a 3rd may be risky. Nevertheless it is for my friend Throughthesewalls Moody on her Rez day and she has been very supportive and I'd love to show her some in return.

Keep an eye on my Upcoming shows page for details of when I am playing. :)

Street Dreams 12/08/2007

It has been an eventful time with me and while I have to admit it hasn't all been rosy it has mostly been on th up. Getting the bad news out of the way the best of SL live competition saw my efforts unappreciated by the judges. While I have always considered that I more kind of shout in key rather than sing I was disappointed that the judges (only 2 of the 3 who showed up) preferred other acts to what I did. That is fair enough and I just have to take it on the chin with some dignity although I am not sure they understood their remit fully. One judge had no comment on my act and the other said my songs where a bit sad. There were not comments on my singing at all. Nevertheless I have made a mental note to play "The Sun Has Got His Hat On" next time lol.

So moving swiftly on I'd rather concentrate on the great gigs I have had since then. Master piano craftsman Lister Lameth hosted me once more at The Piano Man and later the same night I played a Wild West themed party for a new friend Fingers Scintilla and Dream Rentals which was utterly hilarious. Unfortunately my hastily pulled together cowboy outfit did make me look like some kind of 80's John Voight midnight cowboy in my washed denim lol.

The middle of this week marked a debut at The Astral Ballroom, Knightsbridge for the lovely Debs Regent and her helpers Taliesin Silverstar and Ryleigh Thorne. Tuxedos a plenty were evident at the formal show and some of the comments I was getting back were really overwhelming. I have a new zest for music that is coming from being able to perform in SL this way.

This is helped also by the fact that my fan group is growing, now being just short of 550. As keeping up with this is becoming increasingly difficult I am pleased to say that I have now recruited my first "Street Team" member. I have decided to put together a street team from those fans that show the most honest interest in my music. This is just to help me to spread the word by posting about my tunes on forums, writing about it in Blogs and talking to friends both in SL and RL. In return I am going to think of some way of showing my appreciation and I have one or two ideas on that. Welcome and thanks to Allanah Tomsen who is the first recruit and a good friend. If any of the rest of you out there feel you would like to be in my street team....a low commitment activity which I intend to keep fun and informal......then please do not hesitate to get in touch either in world or at djaiskjellerup@googlemail.com

Laters! :)
